Mattresses today are much taller than they were in the past – mostly to provide space for the added support and comfort materials.
If you are purchasing a new mattress for the first time in a decade or longer, be sure to measure the height of your headboard. If you feel these taller mattresses will cover too much of your headboard, ask about a low-profile boxspring, which is shorter than the standard boxspring and will help offset the added mattress height. If you have a platform, canopy, or sleigh bed you will also want to measure the height of the legs of your bed to make sure the boxspring you purchase will work with your bed.
If you don’t have a headboard, platform, canopy, or sleigh bed, consider looking into one to give your new bed some added character. There are many styles, fabrics, and metals to choose from to complete the look of your bedroom.
