Comfort Layers

In the simplest terms, comfort layers are the many levels and types of materials that provide cushion between you and the supportive core. While other mattresses may contain mostly poly-foam or cotton batting, Stearns & Foster® mattresses use the finest materials to provide luxurious, long-lasting comfort. For added resilience and durability, all upholstery materials inside our mattresses are tufted together to keep materials from shifting and impressions from forming.
Depending on the sleep set you select, these fine comfort materials may include:
Pressure Relieving Pillow Coils™
These fabric-wrapped coils provide exceptional comfort by working in conjunction with the 504 Progressive Support Coil Innerspring to enhance your body conformance and reduce motion transfer while maintaining proper back support. They are zoned along the edge of your mattress to allow for a smooth transition into and out of the middle of the bed.
Latex Foam
This luxurious synthetic material resists compression, reduces pressure points, and promotes proper blood flow, which can help alleviate the need to toss and turn. The pinhole design of synthetic latex also provides a natural ventilation system – keeping you cooler in summer and warmer in winter.
Memory Foam
Conforming to your every curve and re-forming as you move, memory foam provides the correct neck and spine alignment necessary for deep, rejuvenating sleep.
Body-Zoned Memory Foam
Layers of memory foam are divided into five zones of unique comfort compositions with specialized foam patterns that conform to the various areas of your body and remember your every curve. This provides optimal pressure relief and support where your body needs it most.
Soft and Healthy Inner Pillow™
This soft, supple layer is filled with a synthetic fiber that provides the rich feel of goose down but is hypo-allergenic. It’s quilted for extra loft and helps reduce body impressions so your mattress will stay comfortable for years and years.
Every Stearns & Foster sleep set can also be tailored to your optimal level of personal comfort through our range of comfort choices:
firm, cushion firm, plush, and ultra plush. This is truly a matter of personal preference, however, and you’ll need to try the different options before making a decision. If you’re looking for a suggestion about which could be right for you, try our
